This cultural heritage site is protected as World Heritage by UNESCO. It has a well deserved nickname ‘The Garden of Europe’.
It dates back to 1249 when the House of Liechtenstein acquired a castle in Lednice, which marked the beginning of their settlement in the area. It remained the Lichtenstein principal residence until 1939.
The Lichtenstein family has created a unique man made landscape complex ‘The Lednice – Valtice Area’.
